AH Snow!

Yes well Okay you can blame me for wanting snow. Of course I don't have the snow like North East of here. Talk about a lot of snow. Some Places have over 100 inches of snow and still coming down. Wednesday there is a call for two feet of snow here from the Arctic Blast that is coming this way. I may not be going to Tburg on Wednesday. I refuse to drive 74 miles in the snow by myself. Not happening.
But I can look on the bright side. I live snow. As I said in a much earlier post there is something about the freshly fallen snow that really makes me sit back and look. Unwalked through snow can be some of the most beautiful snow. Sparkling in the sun light like little diamonds. There you go. Valentines day is on Wednesday and there is snow in the forecast and the snow looks like diamonds. If you are a guy and you want to give your girl diamonds, but you don't have a lot of money, you may want to opt for a walk in the "diamonds".

Speaking of diamonds. Mom was looking for a dress yesterday for Cliff's Wedding. I can't believe that we have 3 months until the wedding.
Mom and I are starting to do our own planning for the special reception. Something Cliff and Heather thought up for all the people who can't come to the wedding. A very simple affair that I think people will enjoy.

Surprise!

It's been a rather busy couple of weeks. I have been traveling 74 miles a day on Tuesday and Wednesday to help set up a new store. It did it last week, this week and I am doing it again next week. Phew! At least I get $.35 a mile.
Last week I was tired. (Just like I am this week). I worked on Friday at my store and it seemed that nothing was going right for me. My machines were not doing what they were supposed to be doing and I was getting a build up of people wanted everything done right now. So I was in the middle of helping someone when I got a call to come to the office at my convenience. Of course it wasn't at that point so I continued with my customer.
A few minutes after that someone came in for a Western Union. Now I can do Western Unions, but I was so busy at that point, I called someone else up to do it. The next thing I know All three of the Managers that were in the store where coming up to the front.
I noticed them and commented on the fact that there only needed to be one person to do Western Unions.
They all came walking up to me with big grins on their faces. They were hiding something and told me they wanted to present me with something. Out came a frame with a certificate naming me employee of the quarters. Then they asked if I knew because there is a little spot on my pay stub that tells me that I have the award and was just playing dumb and I said I didn't know even though I had seen the spot and it didn't connect.
SO after that bad day, I ended up with something I have always thought would be cool to have and made my day just a little brighter. Now I get a day off with full pay. Now that is what I would call a good surprise.

God's Snow Globe

I woke up this morning to a wonderful site. Beautiful blue-white snow falling softly to the earth. It was soft and fluffy and not heavy and wet. Much better for making snowangels rather than snowballs.
When I got to work I heard someone say that the world looked like a snow globe that someone shook. And throughout the day I realized that it really did look like a snow globe outside. We would have heavy snowfall for several hours followed by the snow stopping and the sun coming out for about ten to fifteen minutes before it would start snowing again.
It really did look like God was shaking up the world and then watching the beautiful snowflakes fall to the earth before shaking it up again.
We were blessed by the beautiful snow here. In other places not far away people have no electricity and a half inch of ice on their trees and wires. We have a little ice put not much.
No matter what people say or think about the snow I still love the first real snow storm. We have been blessed this year with less snowfall then normal, but it is still good to have the snow. People are already complaining about not wanting the snow, but I really don't think they understand what it would be like here in the winter without the snow. Maybe it's just me I don't know, but I am ever so thankful for those tiny blue white dimonds in God's snow globe that is glistening outside my window.

Long Live ICE!

Have you ever noticed just how beautiful ice is while it is hang down off of the trees and wires?
I learned something very interesting today about Ice. Did you know that just a thin layer of ice on a tree branch is equal to 300 pounds? Now if that Isn't amazing I don't know what is.
Also saw something very interesting today. After church a bunch of us were standing around talking when all off a sudden we saw what looked like a piece of plastic fall from the sky. Someone went out to investigate and discovered that it was a very thin sheet of ice that had fallen from the roof of the church. It was so thin that when it fell it floated in the air just like a feather or a leaf.
I keep wondering if I am going to be going to work tomorrow. Everyone that is a manager lives half an hour away or they live on a hill that would be too dangerous to come down. As a matter of fact the only way to get to our store is by going down a hill. The weather man is predicting ice and snow for the next few days and we may be getting a Denver right here in the NorthEast.

Ping Pong and White Elephants

My Dad likes to have a White Elephant Christmas party every year. This year is was just a little small. 11 people came to it verses sometimes we have 40.
So we did something really fun afterwards. We played Ping Pong.
Now I will tell you right now that I am really bad at Ping Pong it's self. I play because It's fun not because I will win. After a few games of regular ping pong we played Polish Ping Pong which is much better then regular any day. You can have as many people as you want to and it can bounce as many times as it wants on the table, but only once on the floor. You have two paddles and every one gets a turn at hitting the ball as they go from one side of the table to the next. If it either doesn't bounce on the table or the floor you are out. The less people you have the faster you have to run. We tried it with teams and it was hard then too. It was a good work out and a whole lot of fun.
It's been a long time since I played ping pong and it was good to play it again. I am really hoping to be able to play it again soon. I even suggested to my family that we go over to church pull out the table and have a slamming good time at ping pong.

Long Lost... License?

So it all started about a year ago when I went to help another store set up for its grand opening at the end of January. It was a cold snowy week and at one point I really thought I would get stuck in the snow. But of course that did not happen and I happily made it home in one piece.
It happened not too long after that that I discovered I had lost my drivers license. I couldn't find it anywhere. I looked everywhere in my house and at my own store finally giving up hope of ever seeing it again. Ireally knew deep down someone may have stollen it from me. I finally broken down and got a new license. I was personally tired of walking or hitching a ride to work.
I spent about $20 on a new license resigned to the fact that I would never see my old license again and promptly forgot about it.
Until Yesterday . . ..
I came in to work yesterday and I was talking to my manager when she said "Oh, remember when you lost your license last year?"
First off she wasn't my manager at that time so what she said startled me. Second of all it has been almost a year since it happened and I had all but forgotten about it other than a few fleeting moments the day before when my license looked as if it would fall out of my wallet. (Strange)
"Ya, that was like a year ago though." I replied.
"Well they have had it at ...(The place where I helped set up the store) all this time and John P. (the quality control manager) had told them to send it to you, but just found out they never had and is sending it to you in the mail."
"You're kidding, right?"
"Nope!"
What a blessing that was!
All this time I figured someone else had it and I might have had Personal ID theft and my credit rating would never be the same all my life and it was in a nice safe place where God was protecting it from harmful theives.
Isn't it amazing how God works when we least expect it?

The New Chair

I am very excited to announce the Arrival of the new Chair. It

has beautiful fake black leather. And it has arms. Unlike our old one that had no arms and looked as if it was going to fall apart when you leaned back into it. I have been trying to remember when we got the old chair. If any one knows what year Jamesway went out of business then I would be able to tell you when we got that one. My family bought it for me for school that year and when we got it home we discovered a part broken on it. When we went back the next day we were told we couldn't exchange it because they had declared bankrupcy the day before. The guy snuck us a part from another chair so that we would have the part.

For those of you who are interested and I know of at least one, we got the new Chair at Staples. :)
